What is Sthala Seva?
Sai Datta Peetham started its journey for the Service for Humanity (Paduka Yatra) team led by its founder and Trustee, Raghu Kumar Sankaramanchi about 3 years ago. The Paduka yatra journey was across several states of USA to perform pujas at devotee’s homes as wells several temples to spread the message of service to all BABA devotees.
Sthala Seva was launched to acquire 24.4 acres of land in Franklin Township, Somerset County, New Jersey by reaching out to 111,111 devotees enabling each devotee to contribute $11 per square yard. As part of Sthala Seva, a recreation vehicle converted to Sai Ratham and the Service for Humanity (Paduka Yatra) team traveled nearly 70,000 miles and conducted nearly2500 house pujas in 43 states in the United States of America.
The Service for Humanity (Paduka Yatra) team concluded the Paduka Yatra and returned after 2 years and returned to Sai Datta Peetham, NJ on June 3, 2017. To congratulate the team and as a token of appreciation to Mr. and Mrs. Leela Krishna, the last pooja was held at the residence of Mr. Leela Krishna on June 3, 2017 in the afternoon. At the completion of the event, the team traveled in a procession of vehicles headed towards Sai Datta Peetham at 902 Oak Tree Road, South Plainfield.
“Service for Humanity Celebration” and festivities took place on June 3rd at 6 PM following a procession of 100 vehicles (Cars, SUVs) driven by100 volunteers following (a decorated) Recreation Vehicle joining the procession.
